Tesco Delivery Saver

Tesco have wrote to their customers today advising they are closing Tesco Direct from 9th July.
I am part of the delivery saver plan as I use it for placing many orders through Tesco Direct. I’m not sure if I am able to cancel as they are closing Tesco Direct and this was one of the main reasons to open a delivery saver plan (for me) in the first place?

Is there a question there ?

Are you asking if you can cancel ?

Will need to speak to Tesco if so. Any T&C's you can read to see if you can cancel ?
I suspect you can cancel but you will need to ask Tesco.

Does the delivery saver plan not allow you to use Tesco.com ?

Does the Tesco delivery plan apply to Tesco Direct? I thought TD was mainly for large one off items.

I use the delivery saver plan for my weekly shop which makes delivery costs quite reasonable

    Yes it does.
  • Yes I am not sure if I am able to cancel now, as this was one of the features of having the delivery saver plan, as you got free next day delivery on Tesco Direct orders if placed over £10. Now they will not have a Tesco Direct at all.

I just wondered if anyone knew about any consumer rights regarding this before I do contact Tesco, I remember watching a segment of Martin saying if a company changes what they are offering you have a certain amount to cancel a contract, much like when phone companies put their prices up. I cannot find any terms and conditions on this on Tesco website to refer to.

Just wondered if anyone knew the law on this?

As far as I am aware, they are merging the tesco products from tesco direct with their online grocery site. So you should still be able to buy the majority of things that you could from Tesco Direct. The only difference being they will not have the third party sellers that they had started to have on Tesco Direct. (I think they tried to take on Amazon but it didn't work)

Therefore the service you have been having might actually still be available, if so you might not want to cancel.

    4. Cancellation and Membership Fee
Your Membership Fee is the price displayed on Tesco.com for the Membership Period at the time your Membership commences. Clicking to purchase your Membership indicates your consent to us debiting the Membership Fee using the payment details provided by you.

You can cancel your renewal at any time by calling our customer service team on 0800 323 4048 (free from BT landlines) or 0330 123 4048 (local rate from landlines and mobiles). You can also cancel your renewal by emailing us at online@tesco.co.uk.

If you cancel your Membership within 14 days of the commencement of the relevant Contract Period (the "Cancellation Period") and before you have received a Delivery Saver delivery, we will provide you with a full refund of the Membership Fee (the refund will be made as soon as is reasonably practicable to the payment card you used to purchase Membership).

If you cancel your Membership within the Cancellation Period, but after a Delivery Saver order has been dispatched to you, we will refund the Membership Fee less the full price of the delivery slot(s) used.

If you cancel your Membership after the Cancellation Period has expired, you will not be able to obtain a refund of the Membership Fee (in whole or part).

When is your plan up for renewal?
