You won't be homeless just stay in the rented place if you need to. It would take a lot longer to evict you than this is going to take to
However as it's the OP that served notice to vacate, beware of double rent act 1737:

Why is it that have to commit to losing a considerable amount of money if I don't complete but the seller can terminate and lose nothing bar interest due (words of my lawyer). So I either accept the law society rules or I don't buy a house .. Simply a one sided contract and I thought the law was about equity and balanceBiggles_dh wrote: »They took money out of my account without fulfilling the purpose under which they had authority to do so. I've had money taken from me, that's theft pure and simple. An error I accept is an error and I also accept fraud, but on Friday they've now confirmed they took my money and simply kept it rather than returning it to me. That itself is theft in my book let alone the stories now made to which they can't provide any backup or evidence ...
I'd take a valium and calm tf down. Theft is the taking of something with the intent to permanently deprive. This is a bank we're talking about, you didn't give the money to some bloke offering to clean your gutters.
Some of us have been through this house buying and selling malarkey more than once, hence we're here. The only way to get through it is to stay calm. There is a timeframe for completion for good reason. Sometimes it goes wrong. You have a choice to start panicking about things that haven't happened or you can actually deal with what has. What has happened is that the money is temporarily missing. The rest of the worry is simply projecting into a future that has not happened. Far more distressing than it needs to be.
Nationwide will find your money and they will give it to the solicitor well before any notice to complete runs out. Your solicitor should write to your vendor's solicitor and inform them that the money is somewhere in transit and that they have seen the evidence that it has been transferred. I'm sure that has already been done and that is why no one has issued NTC. People are far more reasonable than you seem to think (possibly because you appear to have a tendency to be unreasonable). Nationwide will end up compensating you for the delay.
Have you already actually failed to complete? Did you really only send funds on completion day? I presume it is just you and the vendor in the chain.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

OP, how are the attempts to retrieve the money going?
I know that during the buying process, especially if one is inexperienced, it is easy to feel as if it's a rigged game with many of the involved parties motivated to pull the wool over your eyes.
I hope you are making headway with your complaints to Nationwide.0
