Oh dear, there seems a lot of unnecessary comment on here..
I was the one who mentioned cheques. I still write the occasional cheque, for instance to my car repair man and painter. Writing a cheque is quicker and easier than setting up a new payee in online banking. And I receive the occasional one, particularly from clubs, societies and my church who have a dual signature requirement that online banking still doesn't properly support.
As I said earlier I go into online banking (desktop) once or twice a month, usually to pay my credit card bill and any other bills. I know more or less what is in my account and that there is more than adequate funds so I don't need to check it daily or anything like that. And despite being pressurised every time I log in to my banking to switch to online statements I still get paper ones.
Yes times are changing and more things are done online or with cards but I don't think it has got anywhere near the claims of this thread especially as regards mobile apps is concerned.
And being retired for a few years now I guess I am a bit older than most...0
