I too had a free version of Avast installed on my laptop. I know it caused problems before (couldn't update my files for some time but could access them), but now I have blue screen and it will take some time for me to be able to work to really try to sort it out.
Perhaps my late husband was right to pay for anti-virus.0 -
^^^^ No no no no no
No need atall to pay for AV - this is a moneysaving website !!
You just need to install one that isnt garbage0 -
Don't mock. This was the W10 upgrade that finally tipped my wife into the Linux camp. Now she has Linux Mint on her laptop; everything works, no glitches, no antivirus, no mega-updates - and she loves it.:pGravedigger wrote: »Don't fancy using Linux then?:j:D:rotfl:0 -

Thanks. When I'm back and working properly I'll investigate what would be best. I'm sure there will be recommendations on this board of MSE. I don't want to trouble people more than necessary but if anyone wants to suggest something in this thread for me to use instead of Avast, feel free!0 -
The one built into Windows 10 is perfectly good.LittleVoice3 wrote: »Thanks. When I'm back and working properly I'll investigate what would be best. I'm a bit surprised that you've used the word "install" given that I'm fairly confident you have recommended the use of Defender in the past, which of course requires no installation.0
