Just ignore everything that Mchambers has to say, he has the world's biggest chip on his shoulder about banking in general and Barclays in particular.

First and foremost OP, I am sorry for your loss, I hope you get it resolved.

Mchambers does come in for some slack, but I have to say he was very helpful in this post (and the first to offer sympathies - not a criticism of others tough), give the guy some slack.

I don't agree that contacting the CEO is the best course of action in this case (using the Bereavement team is clearly the best option), and if he wants us to give him some slack then he needs to rein back his hatred of Barclays because it colours every post that he makes about them. But that's just my opinion, others are available.

MChambers has recommended emailling the CEO because the OP has been given an appointment with an adviser later than we would probably all think appropriate.

The OP has had some great advice form others about the bereavement teams, which seems far more useful than going straight to the CEO. That's a bit of a nuclear bomb to deal with an ant nest option.

Sorry for your loss OP, hope Barclays do the right thing.

I thought I would give an update. Great advice about the Bereavement team. I rung this am, very, very helpful. Printed out a closure form from Barclays site and sent off with relevant documents. Things should happen now. Thanks to all.
