DVLA - V5C address update turnaround times?

:jMy '08 Cmax went in for a service last week and I asked them to do a vehicle check too, as it's due an MOT early July. Lo and behold - plenty of issues that need sorting if it's to pass its MOT. So I've decided to sell rather than spending several thousands on getting it fixed, and buying a new one.

However. We moved house a month ago and I hadn't gotten round to updating the V5 yet. I've sent it off yesterday to the DVLA - when can I realistically expect it back? I need the V5 prior to selling as far as I'm aware. Posts from previous years say anything between 1-4 weeks; anyone done this recently and how long did it take?

I did this for a name change so more or less the same - and received it back in roughly 4 weeks. :)

    2 or 3days.

Used the DVLA website Monday evening and the V5C dropped through the letterbox on Wednesday morning.

Try this but if you've posted it you are too late to use the web site and you'll need to wait for it to pop through your letter box.
  • You can change the address on your driving licence online, but for the V5 DVLA tells you to do the below:
    What you need to do
You must send your whole log book and any supporting documents to DVLA.

    DVLA
    Swansea
    SA99 1BA

Which documents you send will depend on what information you want to change.

    If you’ve changed address
Write your new address in section 6 of your log book (you can’t give a PO Box address). Don’t tick the ‘new keeper’ box or fill in your name.

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought. Ah well I'll have to hope it turns up sooner rather than later.
  • Hi, How long did it take in the end? waiting for a v5 address change to get the scrappage allowance for a new car. Supposed to be picking car up in 2 weeks 😬

It will arrive before the original poster reads this ;)
