I'm guessing they're using 'northbridge' as a generic term perhaps, there's not many parts to reflow on that type of system so I'm guessing it's the main processor they're meaning.
Definitely didn't say CPU. So I just need to ask the question.

When I first read your post I thought "capacitor", but could be a bad connection

Next time you get components replaced, prior to replacement mark them with a highlighter pen, and later you can check what has been replaced with a bank note uv light

Summary:- (skip to 5. if you know the story)
    1. looked like a screen fault with 13 month old 3264 AIO
    2. shop said "Northbridge" chipset fault; £80 to reflow a chip; 50/50 whether kill or cure
    3. Neighbour happy to take the risk
    4. shop said "didn't work"; motherboard needs replacing -couldn't source part - beyond economic repair; ZERO charge
    5. collected AIO and plugged it in; works fine !?!?! Stupid bloody computers. Perhaps it was just a bad cable connection after all and shop was too emabarrassed to admit (or didn't test after putting it back together)
