We are new to gardeing and growing so excuse the (possibly) very basic questions. We have some small conifers in pots (pots approx 16" tall by 16" diameter and was wondering will they get to a point and stop growing? Almost will the roots have no where else to go, therefore they dont get any bigger? Or does it not work like that?
We also have a trachycarpus fortunei in a larger pot, but will it eventually limit or restrict its growth?
Told you it was a back to basics question

I'm not sure it is a simple question!:D
General rule is yes, a pot can constrain growth. I've got a couple of indoor plants that I repotted in March that have already doubled in size after not really growing for 18 months. But! Some plants do really well in containers and won't really care, and some actually prefer being a bit cramped and do better in a pot. I'd do some googling about each plant. You'll find loads of discussions on various gardening sites with people asking the same thing.0
