I think normally the 'signing' for a refund etc is for the store to make sure staff are not taking money from the till - not to keep a check on customers.
Even when I have returned items to say Asda with a receipt ( say clothes because they don't fit) they ask me to sign to show I have received the money.
As already mentioned, I don't think it matters what you scribble - they don't ask for post codes or addresses etc. Probably one of the Audit rules for CS desks who hand back cash to customers and therefore to try and make sure the balance of money in the cs till at the end of the day can be accounted for.
Pointless really, as what is to stop cs staff themselves scribbling "Pluto" on a slip and pocketing the money .....but that it audit rules for you. Pointless and time consuming.
On the point of Morrisons BOGOFs not working, I must say that I always scan my receipts to check before I leave the store - and in 99% of cases they have come off correctly (I only go in once in a while to do the bogofs etc;) ) Much better than any of the other stores - but always sound advice to never take these 'offers' for granted, and to read the small print.
Pity that Morrisons don't do R&R like Tescos did, or DDT like they do now - just shows how bad their tills were at honouring the offers, they lost so much money they had to withdraw R&R!!
And remember, Asda should give you £2 on a gift card for EVERY item they overcharge you on.:p0 -
I dont see why the person didnt want to sign for a refund? What harm is it, it is just for administration reasons and so that the member of staff is covered if the till doesnt balance at the end of the day. Imagine how that member of staff felt having to serve you !.
As for Morrisons, I always find that their BOGOFF offers are on the end of the isle after you have spent time picking your produce from the isle where the offers are not mentioned. For example you select Heinz soup 52p a tin from the isle, go round the corner and then find Baxters soup buy one get one free.
From past experience I find CO-OP by far the worst for pricing errors.0 -
As a whole i find that most supermarkets employ a certain type of person to work on customer services. ie scary !
The one in my local Morrisons is about the worst i have come across and you can see the determination on her face as soon as you approach her to prove that you the customer is wrong.
Funniest dealing i had with her was when i bought some blank DVDs on BOGOF ( 2 packs for £10) but bought the wrong format so took them back to ask for a refund, because i had opened the one packet she refused a refund, which was fair enough, so she just gave me a refund on the one pack ie £10 ! So off i went with my money back and a free pack of DVDs.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -

Morrisons are terrible for overcharging. The worst experience I had was an iceberg lettuce which should have cost 79p went through the till at just over £8.50. I didnt notice until I got home but now always check my receipts while still in store. I got the money refunded without much trouble but you always have to wait in the cigarette kiosk queue which is huge.0

MrsMondragon wrote: »I caused a right fuss on Friday when I got overcharged. The thick and tasty soup was meant to be 79p each or 2.00 for 3 packs. So I got three packs, and lo and behold I was overcharged. I went to CS and explained. They sent someone to check and he came back and said that flavour wasn't on offer. Any way after the CS re-scanned the product she confirmed it was on offer and that I was entitled to 37p back. She insisted I signed to get my refund. I said I was not signing anything as I didn't see why I should sign to get my own money back. After a lot of fuss she called a supervisor who also insisted I signed to get my refund. I still was not having it. I said I would not be signing to get my own money back. Next they called the manager and he got the same response. I point blankly refused to sign to get my own money back. I told him that they had probably made a few hundred extra pounds of profit out of that deal alone and that many people who were over charged would not have realised. I asked him if he knew the law when it came to over charging and that potentially they could be fined 2000 pounds for each offence, he did say he knew about the fine. I ended up leaving the store with no refund. So I called Trading Standards on Saturday, who were as useful as a chocolate fireguard. On Monday I called Morrisons head office, who said they would investigate and get back to me.....
All for 37p? Clearly a lady of principles!0
