Shop in Morrisons? Read this...

...if you take advantage of their BOGOFs, check your till receipts before you leave the store.

On two occasions this week I've been overcharged because of a BOGOF not being applied by the till, so I've had to go to the customer services desk and get it refunded.

Today's, fwiw, was MINUTE MAID JUICE.

Just a heads up :)

  • Ive been overcharged most times I have shopped in Morrisons. Even then they are not that happy about giving you a refund. I would say Morrisons are the worst for overcharging and also for refunding.

i have to agree about morrisons, i have been caught out on the washing powder on offer, when its going through the till now i watch the price on the scanner thing and stop them now as i think it happens more than we realise.

you have to be careful at asda as well cause their chocolate orange bars were 4 for 1.09 or 2 packs for a pound, when put through the till they came trough at 1.12 each and id had 6 packs so overcharged 3.72.

    Hi

I've always found Sainsbury's very bad for over charging

Another thing morrisons does is uses confusing "offer" point of sale advertising, i think this is to deliberately trick you into picking up multiples of things that aren't on offer.

For example, the other day I went to get some chicken breasts. They have had a long running offer on these for ages which was buy two packs and they are £5 instead of £2.99 each. This time there was a shelf edge sign (right on the fridge were the chicken breasts were) saying £6 instead of £3.99 each for CHICKEN. Ashamed to say I fell for it and put two in my basket. After I'd paid I saw the "offer" hadn't come off. I went to customer services and the scary woman who works on there almost laughed me out the building. I went back to look at the "offer" as I was convinced I was right only to find that it said "mini fillets and butterfly strips" in very small writing underneath even though they were the exact same price. The nomal sized breasts weren't included even though the actual sign was virtually stuck to them.

I've done this with biscuits too, they put non-offer biscuits on the same aisle end display under the banner "Buy one get one free" so it looks like they are all included so you must check the small print.

They also leave offer signs up (especially on toiletries and make-up) for far longer than they are active. They usually honour these (if somewhat grumpily) but first you must check that the offer did not activate at the till.

    A tip!

You can tell when Morrisons have a really good offer on, there will be huge display boards in the foyer stating the offer, if the offer is Bogof they will currently have one on the shelf, if it's a price reduction they won't have any.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Then you can go and complain to their wonderful CS who will give you their stock answer..........

I thought it was only me that caught out with these offers
The offer date has normally expired when i've gone to the till.
Watch out for the Bread too they always seem to put wrong prices
so my loaf becomes £1.30 upwards when the sign reads 59p.
  • I caused a right fuss on Friday when I got overcharged. The thick and tasty soup was meant to be 79p each or 2.00 for 3 packs. So I got three packs, and lo and behold I was overcharged. I went to CS and explained. They sent someone to check and he came back and said that flavour wasn't on offer. Any way after the CS re-scanned the product she confirmed it was on offer and that I was entitled to 37p back. She insisted I signed to get my refund. I said I was not signing anything as I didn't see why I should sign to get my own money back. After a lot of fuss she called a supervisor who also insisted I signed to get my refund. I still was not having it. I said I would not be signing to get my own money back. Next they called the manager and he got the same response. I point blankly refused to sign to get my own money back. I told him that they had probably made a few hundred extra pounds of profit out of that deal alone and that many people who were over charged would not have realised. I asked him if he knew the law when it came to over charging and that potentially they could be fined 2000 pounds for each offence, he did say he knew about the fine. I ended up leaving the store with no refund. So I called Trading Standards on Saturday, who were as useful as a chocolate fireguard. On Monday I called Morrisons head office, who said they would investigate and get back to me.....

She insisted I signed to get my refund.

Next time, they can insist you sign for the refund, but legally you can sign anything you like............................
There is no legal requirement to give a shop worker your true details.

perhaps when a few people sign as Snoopy or Nelson Mandela, or something similar, they might realise the futility of demanding a signature.
