Ticket insurance - advice/help!

Options
Hi

I have an event I was due to attend this weekend, but unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it. With the train cancellations due to bank holiday the time it will take to travel will be over 7 hours (and accommodation is now very expensive for the area).

Now technically the trains are running via buses and alternative means, but the route I had planned to take is cancelled meaning it will take longer than expected.

I have ticket insurance but I am not sure if this will cover me. Does anyone have any experience of this? As they are e-tickets I cannot resell as ID is required otherwise I'd have happily done this.

Thanks

You could ask about this on the insurance board but my guess would be no as it's still technically possible to reach your destination
