Subway Double Points

Only ten years here, still dunno where to post this:
After making a purchase at Subway they scanned my Subcard. Then asked to scan it a second time. Sorry, i was told, "it won't scan". Lady behind me said "i think it might be the system as i can't access my points on my phone". Ste, who was serving me, agreed and gave me a points IOU. I manually added the purchase to my card using the IOU voucher.
Two days later i made a larger Subway purchase, however, i was only awarded single points. Ditto the IOU purchase.
When i contacted Subway, they said their T&C's said that if your card isn't presented at the time of purchase then you don't get double points, I argued i did present my card but their system was down (the Subway sales assistant will confirm).
They also claim that a "no card purchase" does not even count as a purchase within a week, i.e. i didn't get double points for a purchase made just two days later.
After a month and a half they gave me a "good will gesture" of the missing points but surely this is clearly unfair, & unreasonable, T&C.
The final email from the Subcard people says ....
"The system would not pick up the transaction on 3rd as it was manually added. So when you made the purchase on 5th, there was no mechanic to award double points against. This is why we have since manually updated the points to allow double points on both purchases. If you ever claim a purchase via an IOU code, this will only allocate single points and this will not count trigger double points on the next purchase. "

Despite scanning my card no points were added to my total and it was a purchase within 7 days, thus no double points added. I tried to put the details of my receipt on to the website to claim the points but the site needs my 20 digit IOU code from the receipt. There is NO 20 DIGIT code anywhere on the receipt. The staff a the store could not help although they tried. No way Subway makes anything easy.
