Disposing of vehicle
I have a vehicle which I need to dispose of. Parked on my driveway, SORN, no current MOT.
I occasionally find a note stuck to the windscreen asking me to call X to if I wish to dispose of the vehicle. They seem a bit dodgy, no company name, just a mobile number.
What do I need to do to properly dispose of the vehicle? Any recommendations for someone in the London Borough of Havering who can dispose of it?

Your local council will dispose of it: see https://my.havering.gov.uk/Pages/OnlineForms/Surrender-a-vehicle-for-scrapping.aspxThe comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Thanks, hadn't realised the council had a scheme.
A bit of looking around returned this:
https://www.cartakeback.com/
Found through a link from a Telegraph article and a Saga article.
Seem legit and will apparently offer £130 to take away my Peugeot 206.0 -
I've used cartakeback - really good service, paid quickly & got the cert of destruction through to confirm. Cuurently waiitng for Motorwise, again found online, to collect one on Monday. Seem ok so far, have confirmed by email & phone the collection day and what I needed to complete the collection.0

Thanks,
Had a look at Motorwise, offering a bit less for the car £105 vs £130. I'd be interested to know what their service is like once they're done.0 -

Not sure why it would automatically be dodgy if no company name, maybe it's an individual who is interested in your car for some reason? If it's happened more than once then maybe there is more demand than you imagine.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
eBay, 99p no reserve auction..... Risk of time wasters but potentially higher price.
Personally I would use cartakeback for an easy life.0 -

'Note' on the windscreen made it sound informal. The 'notes' are more often actually printed so produced in bulk. Coincidentally, there was a fresh 'note' on the car this afternoon.0 -
https://www.removemycar.co.uk/ is another good one, got slightly more than takecarback ( have also used before )
I got a web quote
They came on time
They paid
