17 year old car insurance

In a year or so's time my 16 year old will be thinking about a car and I'll be sweating it over car insurance.

If my son has had a year's experience riding a moped, would that experience be taken into account and have a positive (downward) effect on his car insurance premium?

You can find out what difference if any it makes to premiums by doing dummy quotes online now with and without this in his history
