Recommend me a sound bar please

Hi

We have just bought a Samsung UE55MU6400 TV in silver and are looking to add a soundbar. Could someone recommend one please. The TV and soundbar will be recessed so ideally a silver soundbar. Budget is £250.

Thanks in advance

It's not silver but it's a cracking sound bar.

I couldn't really find any silver ones.

Both the LG SJ5 & the Sony HTCT291 soundbars+sub are available in silver for £199 each, they both seem to have good reviews.

Strictly speaking that's a soundbase not a soundbar. For soundbars around the OP's price bracket I'd be looking at the Yamaha YAS207, CA TVB2 or the Q Acoustics M4, not in any particular order.

    Couple of points to consider:
1 - do you want one with a separate bulky sub-woofer?
2 - will one remote control all? e.g. my Sky Q remote controls Sky box, TV and soundbar (latter both Samsung)

I wouldn't have said that any of the subwoofers with those suggested soundbars were that particularly bulky and being wireless they can be positioned pretty much anywhere out of the way.

OP, if you don't want a subwoofer then perhaps you should actually look at a soundbases instead, such as the one mentioned earlier or the Q Acoustics M2 or Canton DM 55.

    1) Which best buys without sub-woofers in your price range but not colour are Canton DM55 and DM75 @ £250/£300
    2) I have Samsung 55MU6120 TV and HW-J250 sound bar @ £100 all controlled by Sky Q remote - sound acceptable to me.

Thank you!! With the soundbar and tv being recessed into the wall - would the sound be impacted in anyway on the HW-J250?

Depends on how recessed and enclosed you're talking. This would impact almost all soundbars/soundbases I'd have thought.

Don't know - mine is free-standing on TV stand. Instructions say "Install horizontally on a suitable base with 7-10 cm around it for ventilation." Assume refers to space at sides and top. Alternatively kit supplied for wall-mounting - needs to be 5cm below TV.
