Overpayment Vs changing the term of morgatge

Hey folks
Any advice on what would be better approach to laying of the morgatge quicker. Is it better to just over pay the allowed amount each month and save a lump sum for the end of each fixed tearm. Or can it be more beneficial to change he length of the morgatge currently 4 years into a 30 year morgatge not making over payments currently as I am saving for maternity leave (last baby) starting to think of the best options for when I go back to work at the end of next year. I feel overpaying gives you the felixibility to deal with life events as and when then I arrive but worry not having a fixed amount I have to pay mean that other things may come up and feel like they should take priority! What are people's opinions? TIA
