My name changes when I sign in to ebay????

The normal message that comes up at the top of the page says Hello LUCY! but when I go on to "sell" it says Hello LUA*!
Sometimes it stays on when I am back in "my eBay" too, is this a common eBay fault or am I being tetchy today due to my other halfs AOL account being hacked this morning??? (His password got changed and he had loads of emails from a dirty website saying his new personal website was set up! we didn't click on them btw)
Anyone else encountered the name changing thing??

Mine are all fine this morning..if this has only just happened get all your passwords and secure questions changed IMMEDIATELY. If your PC has been insecure enough to allow an AOL account to be hacked the hacker may by now have access to all other sites as well.
Change everything, ebay, paypal bank accounts and any shop where you use a card and leave the details on file. Then get across to the techie board and ask for urgent advice about cleaning the PC and keeping yourself safe in the future.
Even if this is a Friday monring ebay glitch in your case I would assume it isn't and spend some time on protecting myself.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It happened a few days ago to me and still happens sometimes. Its just an eBay glitch as my name still shows correctly when I am using Safari as my browser but it shows up wrong when using Firefox.0

Yes - our PC is VERY unprotected!!!!!! It crashed a while back and we completely lost all programmes etc and basically had to load it all back from scratch, I've only just started doing the protection bits in the last month - neither of us are very good at things like that - just at using the computer for basic stuff!
Thank you for your help!

the 1st thing you do is load a firewall on then update the definitions.
even better is to have a hardware firewall like router as well.
a hackers pc could hack your pc in minutes of it going online unprotected then it may not matter later. you can get free firewall/antivirus and malware removers
idealy download these programs and have them on a disc so in the same situation you can have basic protection befroe ever going online0 -
This has happened to me - and all our stuff is VERY highly protected, my partner set up everything firewalls etc, and I virus check at least once a day using 3 virus checkers and never click odd links. Its happened to a lot of people latel, its an ebay glitch.~*Cerenia*~

Personally I'd make sure you've got a firewall and an antivirus program running, yes they'll slow down your computer but they will keep you protected from most things. (I run the free ones ZoneAlarm (firewall) and Avast (antivirus) and there are some others that are free too

Thank you everyone for your help (even though I am still baffled by the names of some of the things!) I really am clueless at computers these days!!!
I tried to thank you but then the button disappeared????
I think I'm going to sit down over the weekend and spend a good couple of hours getting up to date with everything!
OH checked his AOL earlier and had no more dodgy messages at all, needless to say AOL havn't replied to the one he sent them about it either
It is all quite worrying though as I do alot of shopping etc over the internet and hadn't really considered how unprotected my details really were!
Thanks again!
