Handing back on PCP - do finance company collect?

Hi,

I’m handing my car back to Audi Finance at the end of June, however, I am planning on sorting out a new car before then, as I will be liable for road tax and MOT before the end of June.

My plan was to get the new car and SORN my current car,
so I don’t have to get road tax and MOT, however, I am concerned that, at the end of June, I will have to drive it to the Audi Dealer? And if it’s SORN, I won’t be able to? But if they come and collect it, it shouldn’t be a problem?

Thanks.
Stewart

Im guessing it will need an MOT valid for the day your handing it back??

    What does your contract say?

Why don't you just get them to collect it earlier, you can settle the finance and hand the car back any time you like.

If the car is SORN’d the only way it can be driven is to an Mot. Can’t even be driven on trade plates.

So will need to be trailered.

I’m not settling the finance, im handing it back at the end of the pcp deal? I haven’t paid 50% either, so not eligible for early termination?

I’m going to phone them tomorrow and see what my options are? Looks like I may need to MOT it, but hopefully get away with road tax? What about servicing? It’s due in a few weeks?

Read your terms, your possibly breaking them by having it uninsured and untaxed.

If its due before you hand it back then they may charge you for it anyway. Again what does your contract say?

I’ve read my terms, all it says is that the car needs to be handed back with everything that came with it, along with MOT certificate and service book.

Doesn’t actually say anything about being serviced.

I’m going to call them today to discuss. I’d actually like them to pick it up a few weeks early.

I'm sure they'll be happy to collect it early if you keep paying until the term ends.

I'd be stunned if they didn't want it serviced to schedule, that it's not being used is irrelevant.

The tax is irrelevant* if you're down as the registered keeper. This is because you'll automatically get a refund from DVLA when you register the change in keeper on the V5.

    * bar the fact that they only refund complete months.
