TUI private transfer cancellation rights

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice regarding my upcoming holiday.
I booked a holiday in May last year with TUI, and paid an additional sum for private taxi transfers.
Reasons being one of our party prefers to pay for private transfers over the free coach transfers, and we have 2 small children, going on our first family holiday, and liked the idea of a quicker transfer with the children in car seats as opposed to on laps on a coach.

When booking we specifically asked about arranging car seats in the taxis, and were told to call closer to the holiday date and this could be arranged.

Having phoned TUI yesterday, we have been told that they (or their private transfer partner) do not supply car seats, and no transfer company in Mallorca do this, which is absolutely false.

I have asked for a full refund as we have been misinformed and wouldn’t have booked if told at the time that car seats were not available. TUI have said there would be a cancellation charge, which I have disputed due to being misinformed on booking. I am awaiting a response from a pre travel manager regarding a full refund.

I have had a quick look through their t&c’s but can’t find anything specific about private transfers, and was hoping one of you more clued up on this kind of thing could tell me if this is worth pursuing or if I have little chance of getting a full refund.

I have already found another company that will provide the transfer service with car seats (for £100 less than TUI have charged us) which I don’t want to book until I have a decision from TUI.

Many thanks for reading

Dan

    Do you have it in writing that you were mis-informed?
    Is it on an email or something?

    Without it you have nothing and will have to pay the cancellation. With proof you have breach of contract on your side and due a full refund.

    If you end up using the transfers that are booked with TUI then you can take your own car seats and check them in for free in addition to your luggage allowance.

    Also if you do cancel you should look at the price of car hire, you can get some really good deals depending on when/where your going.

    Why not take a Trunki, or other car seat along with you?

    Everything was booked by phone unfortunately. I will wait to see what TUI have to say and will see if the call was recorded and can be traced.
    We have looked into the trunki booster seat which would be ok for my 4 year old, but I would want my 21 month old in a 5 point harness seat preferably.

    Thanks for all your advice !!!128077;
