    Hi,

Just to let people know I contacted them earlier and got a new appointment on 4th June, plus changed location to one closer to home.

At first they suggested going on BH monday 28th May but agreed finally to 4th June in early afternoon.

When I asked about date on letter and appointment date I was told that as its second class post it can take upto 10 days for delivery. I asked why they would write with an appointment that is within 10 days if their post can take 10 days to be delivered and was told that the DWP only require they send the letter at least 7 days before the appointment (as per the legislation), but surely that means people could easily miss appointments through no fault of their own.

The form no longer asks for dates that you will not be available so this seems very poor to me.

We went to Wales a few weeks ago, from Friday to Tuesday, I'm just thankful the letter didnt come that week or I would have missed an appointment I never had a chance of knowing anything about.

5 minutes after I called ATOS I got a text reminder telling me about the original appointment date. (I called back and they confirmed this is an auto issue text message and to ignore it)

Why not send this text on the same day the letter is sent?

I might just be being paranoid but to me it seems this is a ploy to get people to miss appointments.

Clearly the legislation needs changing to increase the notice period gi en to claimants.

I've now received a warning for apparently saying to myself
do you want the money or not

I quoted this in a post telling StopWatch that it was a highly intelligent response.

So now it seems MSE Forums no longer allow you to defend yourself against people out to antagonise people.

Just wanted to say that I find this to be a disgrace. Clearly the MSE mods are happy to let people be abused and refuse to allow them to defend themselves.

    DISGUSTING!!!!!

Strange when I phoned them asking to change an 8am appointment they said they couldn't.
They said these are sent out by a Computer and it's not up to them to set a time, it's done at random.

First appointments are mostly given at random from a computer. If you hadn't already changed an appointment date/time then there shouldn't have been any reasons why you couldn't change yours. You're allowed to change them once.
  • When I had to change my son's assessment time and date (and ask for a centre closer to where he lived), there was no problem at all.
