Hi
Any help much appreciated here.......
My tenancy contract ends on Dec 3rd. We have found a new house to rent and agreed a moving in date of Nov 30th. However, we do not get a contract until a couple of weeks before move in.
We are worried about handing in notice in case anything goes wrong with new house, but with my tenancy ending do we still need to give notice ?
also, is it normal not to receive a contract yet ?
thank you

its depends on the agreement.
some stop at 6 months nad need renewed but al ive had have automatically continued on a month by month basis.
you would still really have to give notice, tbh i usually leave a bit of overlap on my flats.
its costs a bit of double rent but makes moving easier and takes the pressure off a bit0 -
1. So long as you leave by the end of the fixed term and do not overstay even by a second then you do not need to give notice. In practise you really need to make sure you attend the checkout and give the keys back properly so there can be no argument that you left in time but that can be arranged in the last few days.
2. Check to see if you were served an S21 at that start. That means they have given you notice anyway and gives you a bit more flexibility about leaving which I've written so many times before I'm not going to repeat.
3. Ask for your new contract to be signed by both yourself and the landlord now. If you leave it to the last minute the landlord could withdraw and you will have nowhere to go. If the landlord has not signed the contact then you get no compensation should he pull out. I would ask myself do I want to deal with a person like that?0 -

Check your contract, you may have an AST for a set period then automatically moving onto a months notice from yourself to leave.
Either way, you should give notice as it is the moral thing to do.
You should get a contract, however there are some things which will not get completed until very near the start of the tenancy i.e. inventory check:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.
