So...
Unplugged aerial, retuned TV and YouView box. Plugged aerial back in and retuned again. I now have 162 TV channels via YouView, up from 148 yesterday, but still no BBC News HD or C4+1 HD. Who knows what the new ones are, nothing I watch though for sure...
I've also looked at the amp - it's an 'Antiference' brand - the red light is 'power' and the green light is '12V DC'. Both now on. Only red before I reseated all the wires yesterday.
I'll try skipping the amp if I can tonight, although I'm not sure the direct aerial lead will reach...0 -
I tried removing the amp and going direct from aerial to YouView box. The difference is minimal - still no BBC News HD or C4 +1 HD and the signal strength on BB4 HD has dropped from 83 to 75, although the signal quality remains at 100.
A suppose a new amp is the only other angle to try. Any suggestions? Is there a particular type I should be going for? The twist on lead connection is a good idea I think and I've seen quite a few on Amazon that all seem very similar...0 -

I would still try direct to the TV and skip everything else, use a patch lead if needed.
Signal quality is more important than signal strength. 75 is okay for strength anyway.0 -

I've got all the channels I'm after via the amp to the TV, but I can only record or pause live TV via the YouView box so want to try and get all the channels to appear through there too.0 -
Not sure if you've tried this, but the 'simplest' way to do this is aerial to Youview box, Youview box to TV. Have you tried this? You might not need the amp at all. Since your TV is working you must have a mostly good signal from the aerial.
There MAY be a setting in the Youview box for 'RF (aerial) passthrough' or similar, which you will want to have switched ON.0 -

Wait. I've just tried aerial to YouView box - which then connects to the TV via HDMI. Is that what you mean? Taking the amp out makes no difference apart from the signal strength drops from 83 to 75.
The original set up was:
aerial to amp IN - amp out to YouView box and then HDMI to TV
and also
aerial to amp IN - amp out direct to TV aerial socket (and this is the one I'm currently getting more channels on)
It seems I need to boost the signal a little to get the YouView box to see the same channels the TV does. They both did this perfectly well until a few weeks ago.
Also - I turned the aerial passthrough on the YouView box off, as I thought it might be part of the reason the signal is reduced. But yes, if not using the amp then that would work in getting the aerial to the YouView and direct to the TV.0 -
OK then, the amp is helping, but not enough, on those few marginal channels. You might be able to improve it with fine adjustment of, or replacement of, the aerial. Or moving it outside or higher.0

I had this problem the other day. I'm pretty sure it was/is an aerial problem.
Signal strength was down to 50% on the HD channels, occasionally momentarily dropping to 0%. Climbing up the chimney stack and simply holding the aerial increased the signal to 100%. Unfortunately, not a viable long term solution. Lashing the aerial to the clothes prop and raising it as high as the slack in the cable would allow, about 2', improved the signal to around 85%.
I've ordered a 10' pole to see what difference that makes.0 -
When I could not get any HD channels on my YouView box I read that a factory reset was one way of getting them back.
It worked for me but I wasn't very pleased losing all my recordings.0
