National Insurance Credits

Husband was made redundant & took his works Pension 2 years ago. Since then he has done some temporary jobs but is not working at the moment & will probably never work full time again. (Not fit enough) He got a State Pension forecast & it says he can contribute another 4 Years to increase his pension. You used to be able so sign on at JCP not be paid but your national insurance would be credited. Is there still a scheme like this available? Thank you

You can still sign on for JSA and get the credits but this involves actively seeking work and jumping through hoops.
This may be a better alternative:

If he is unwell ESA may be a viable alternative to JSA0 -
It depends whether or not you're in a universal credit full service or live service area.
You can check here:

He can also get a "future pension forecast" from the DWP he might be surprised at what his SRP will be especially if he was contracted out at some point

Funny.. I read the question
The anwser is. Yes, you can do that (I'm doing that myself) but as Neil (above) says "this involves actively seeking work" (but not the literal 'hoop-jumping', that was done away with in the 1830s or half-past T-time as we used to say)
Oh my days pardon me for mis-reading something
Note to self MUST do better !!!! :cool:0 -
