Single Justice Procedure Notice
Hello, I really need some advice. I was having a very bad year last year and was suffering from stress due to a terribly acrimonious divorce. During this time I ashamedly got two speeding tickets!
The first one I dealt with sufficiently, but they told me it had expired so destroyed it. As I thought I would soon be having a different address and surname, i waited to apply for a replacement (stupidly thinking that because I had my details online and the paper counterpart this was sufficient - I think i've been a bit foolish!). I was caught on camera again towards the end of last year and received a Producer. I because of circumstances at home, I completly forgot about it! so I never paid the fine or sent the documents off along with my licence (also because it had been destroyed!). This week I received a SJPD form with the charges of
Exceeding 30 miles per hour on a restricted road.
I'd totally forgotten about it and i'm really concerned about looking my licence - I already have 6 points on it
What should I do? I'm expected to fill out my plea of guilty or not guilty. Should I seek legal advice 1st and if so what is in store for me? What are the associated costs too?
Any help is much appreciated please! T.I.A

Your post isn't really very clear about exactly what happened and when.
Does the SJPN only have a single charge of speeding on it ??
If so, then unless you think you have a defence to speeding (which is very unlikely) you fill it in as guilty and send it back and wait.
It will a be a fine (+ charges and costs) based on your weekly income. The exact amount depends on how far over the 30 limit you were. You get a discount for pleading guilty and it will be at least three points (again, depends on the speed you were doing).... if you were way over 30 and get 6 points, then you would be facing a totting up disqualification.
If there is an additional charge of failing to name the driver on the SJPN , then you would need to deal with things differently.0 -
I am afraid I cannot understand what has happened here. The first part makes no sense to me at all, but assuming whatever it was was dealt with, so let us start from here:I was caught on camera again towards the end of last year and received a Producer.
What do you mean by a Producer?. The usual understanding of that is a requirement to produce your documents after having been stopped at the roadside. You were not stopped, so who gave you what? Do you mean you received a request to supply drivers details (the usual procedure following being detected speeding by a camera)? Or did you provide your details and then received the offer of a fixed penalty?
As suggested, by Tony, have a look at you SJPN and see if it mentions any other charges apart from the speeding matter.0
