Had my lightbulb moment about a year ago and have been making regular payments to all creditors and everyone happy - - - then, Had a letter from Fredrickson International threatening the usual bailiffs,ccj,court charges,solicitors etc. The account is and always has been paid to Intrum Justitia. So phoned FI who (quite agressively) say I must pay them. IJ say I must continue to pay them.Tried to phone Marshall Ward (the original creditor) they know nothing and put me through to 'old accounts' they can tell me nothing - just refer me to ring a 0870 number. Tried that to be told only that the number is not available.
This was all part of a very frustrating afternoon and all the phone calls were;
Hold the line,musak,and your call is valuable to us type, (you all know what I mean. So, any advice? what do I do now?

Have you challenged them in writing to prove that you owe them anything?
If not I'd suggest you do.0 -
I have had a similar situation, although not with the same companies. In my case, the original creditor had asked the second company to take over and the first company had no idea. Apparently they weren't satisfied with the speed of the first company in getting my money off me, lol.
I would think that if this second DCA has been passed the debt, they will some paperwork from the creditor to prove they now own the debt, and from what date.
Sorry if that is not much helpOlympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Thanks to you both, would seem then that I should now write to Fredrickson International and ask them to show me proof of the debt and in the mean time keep up my payments with Intrum Justitia. Am I right in thinking that if FI can't send me ant proof I can just ignore them? This is sooooo annoying when I have been in control of everything for a year and been hassle free.Mutual Supporters club member (Nov 2006)

Hi
Send both lots a CCA letter demanding that they prove that they have the original CCA and a letter of assignment.
Since they only have 12+2 days to respond, you might not need to halt payments.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I would carry on making payments to the original DCA until you have proof of the debt being passed on to someone else.
EDIT: or do what RAS says

it is against the FSA rules and the DCA professional association guidance for more than one agency to collect the same debt at once complain to the original creditor in writing and ask them to sort it out. It is their responsibility. I would aslo write to FI and ask them to prove the debt0

I had a very similar thing original creditor was a catalogue and for a year been paying to Intrum Justitia then all of a sudden I had a letter from another company SRJ or something. I wrote a letter of complaint to the original catalogue people for setting two companies on the case and asked both DCA for a signed credit agreement. SRJ wrote back straight away and said the case was closed and sent my cheque back. Intrum cashed the cheque but have not sent the signed credit agreement yet and not had a response from catalogue company.
I have not sent payment to anyone since not sure if this is right or not, but I guess I will see! I figure if Intrum moan that I have missed a payment I will tell them they cashed the cheque but did not send a copy of agreement.
The template letter to send is on the national debthelpline and you send a £1 cheque for costs.0
