npower vs bulb

Current supplier contract w npower runs out end of May2018, quick search on price comparison sites id bulb as cheapest provider with decent rating

Went to npower online account got a fixed price deal that ends March2020 that is £150 higher than the bulb which is standard rate and may increase subject to market prices

So stuck with npower

However couple observations - I did my own calculations using unit rate gas electricity and my annual usage which I monitor closely. This is the best and most accurate way to determine your annual gas electricity spend since find the price comparison sites make a few assumptions that don't always give a accurate comparison

Since our family household is high user of gas electric (30k Kwh and 8k Kwh annual respectively) it makes sense to do a separate spread sheet based calculation to get the best deal

Hope this helps anyone looking to renew

Bulb will pay your exit fees to switch to them, up to £120.

So it might be worth still switching :)

Energy club (moneysavingexpert comparison engine) does a really good job at comparing providers if you know your actual usage. So put your details in there.

Also Bulb is cheaper than nPower

Hasn't Bulb just warned its existing customers that its prices are under review? It is a variable tariff that they offer. Nothing to stop a switch too them and then switch out again if prices rise. The latter will be without penalty.
