Trinity Claims/Policy Expert

I am also taking Policy expert and Trinity claims. Here is a chain of events for you to make your own judgement.
After 3.5 months of pain, I am going to the ombudsman. My suggestion would be to pay a little more and go with a bigger name. These small companies attract you with lower prices, when things happen, there is so much pain.
17th February: 4 hip tiles were blown off the roof during the big storm. I had 3 quotes and they were around £2000 as scaffolding was required so decided to go with insurance. All contractors suggested the same as all of them were convinced they were clear cut storm damage.
7th March: Contacted trinity claim and they said they would send a surveyor out the following week.
14th March: Waited the whole day and the surveyor didn’t show.
16th March: Contacted trinity again and they said the surveyor couldn’t find my house which was on the main road. The next available date was 2 weeks later.
4th April: Once the surveyor finally showed up, he further confirmed that the damage was covered and offer a cost of £1100 which was far below the contractors had asked for so I asked them to conduct the work.
6th April: Their contractor has come out and inspected the damage. So far, not fantastic but not horrible but my luck stopped there.
The contractor said he need to go back to trinity with the scope of the work. Reading between the lines, what trinity was offering him was way lower than the actually cost. But I could be wrong.
Then followed by 2 months of chasing trinity with a gaping hole on my roof as they ‘review the scope of work’.
27th May: finally, 3 months later the contractor emailed me said the scaffolding will be up week commencing the 6th of June and it looks like that my roof will finally be fixed.
31st May: 3.5 months later, I got a call saying my claim was cancelled because the damage is not due to storm but due to degradation.
