It's a well known fact that most people who own items almost always recommend them, even if they're not good. This is human nature. On the other hand, people who have used them, lived with them, and vice versa, are more capable of a balanced view point. This isn't an insult, it's just a fact.

There is a reason you won't find many middle class families in Britain with a ceiling fan from Argos.

That is probably one of the dumbest things I have ever read, that doesn't even make sense,?

I bought the fan AND I also live with it and use it, I have had it many years and when I moved house I took it with me. If it was not good I would not have bothered posting anything,

Also I don't get what you mean with regards to a middle class family buying it from Argos? that is also a weird comment,

I needed a fan, it was reasonably priced and was recommended to me by someone who already had one and was happy with it and it did the job,

When I bought my car, reasonably priced, and did the job were way down on my priority list,

One is a fan, the other is a car,
  • . . . got ours from Argos, was about £100 at the time and has clear perspex blades, highly recommend getting one,
I have the same, perspex blades, 3 speed with remote, almost silent on low speed, so no problem sleeping with it running all night.

Also have an A/C unit, but no way could I sleep with the noisy thing running.

Installed ceiling fans in Spain, they were not very effective. Any desk top fan will be just as good and a dyson fan would be much better.

If you want better and can afford it, go for air con. Don't buy cheap units. We installed Panasonic, very good and quiet.

I lived in Las Vegas for a summer. Think hotter at night than the hottest UK summer day. A fan over the bed at night allowed me to briefly turn the AC off....

We have ones very similar to this,

    https://www.diy.com/departments/hanki-brushed-chrome-effect-ceiling-fan-light/1876518_BQ.prd.

One in the living room and one in our bedroom.

We alway sleep with it on medium and it it virtually silent and yes, I have stuck my hand in it whilst getting dressed and it doesn't even leave a bruise. ;)
  • As per my knowledge, Hover is the best ceiling fan supplier in India.

However, once you include taxi fares to and from the airport, a return flight to India and customs duty for bringing the fan back into the UK, Homebase and Argos would be cheaper.
  • I've had an awesome experience with the Hunter Pacific I installed one year ago. I always choose ceiling fans based on their noise level and balance, and this is by far the quietest fan I looked at. I'd advise you to go for a fan as large as possible that will run on a low speed for a good amount of circulation without making loud noise. Also, I'm not a fan of extra remotes so I paid an extra installation cost for it to be hardwired, which allowed me to wire the light into the room lights

I Think you should buy a Hover ceiling fan. It will solve your problem definitely.
    Hover fans.
The only fans to come with a lifetime supply of spam.

If the Hover fan company manufactures fans that are of the same poor quality as the people they employ to advertise their products, definitely give them a miss.

    We live in Singapore.
    Hot and humid.
We have ceiling fans and aircon in every room in the apartment we bought 8 years ago.

We have the fans on during the day, in fact I'm sitting in the study now beneath one and the temperature is 33c but I feel fine.

But at night it's too humid and we sometimes use the aircon to dry out the air. For some reason while the fans work for me during the day I don't like them on at night.
The aircon is usually set to 28c and that works fine for us.

I don't like the aircon too cold because going out during the day after acclimatizing to aircon at night I find I sweat too much during the day.

Before we moved to our new apartment I installed a desk top fan on the wall above our bed and that could also swing.
It worked perfectly and just cooled us enough to sleep properly.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.
