being charged after moving out

I'll try to make it short.I moved out from a house, closed my energy account(gave all readings, filled a form),and paid final bill(thats what I thought this time). Two months after that I've been sent an e-mail about outstanding balance which I've been told is definitely final.Paid it as well.
After 3 months the rest of tennants moved out,and letting agent told the energy supplier exact date of end of tennancy. And after that they came back to me claiming to pay a bill for the period I moved out.
As far as I know my letting agent gave them the details of the person(he agreed to pay it) who they supposed to send final bill, but it looks like they ignore it,and they keep chasing me.I e-mailed them couple times, call phone service(been told that will be checked, but I still keep getting e-mails to pay).
Should I be worried about it,or can I just ignore them forever?

Don't ignore them, they will chase you forever.
Keep off the phone and write a letter or email - better still do both - and head your letter/message COMPLAINT in big bold letters and detail when you left and when the new person (supply his name) became responsible for the account.
Give them any readings - you did take them when you left? - and ask that the bill for which you were resposible be made up until your leaving date and any excess paid by you be refunded.0
