Will my car fail next year MOT under new rule
Hi.
Corsa 09 diesel
Just had my car done it's early mot. Passed with three advisory. Two of them is indicator disclour so cheap to repair. The last one is
Exhaust has minor leak of exhaust gases rear (back box corroded)
In the smoke check.
Test type: CATA - FAST PASS
exhaust : < 90mm
Oilbtemp: 81 oc
Test fas1: 1*
K(m -1) : 1.21
*= result used in mean calculation
Drift : 0.00 m-1
Mean of FAS tests : 1.21 m-1
Normal test result : fast pass (1.50 m-1) =passed

Diesel, I presume?
The change coming next week is that where there's a manufacturer's data plate giving emissions, that's what it needs to meet. No plate, generic figure for the age.
Is there a plate on your car? What age?0 -
It!!!8217;ll fail next year because the back box will be excessively corroded by then0

Your advise has nothing to do with the smoke test, A back box on ebay will be around £30.00 If you want it fitted about £75.00 hardly the end of the world. We may not win by protesting, but if we don’t protest we will lose.
If we stand up to them, there is always a chance we will win.0 -

Absolutely correct. ANY leak anywhere on the exhaust is a fail.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Only a major leak. Minor leaks from joints and drain holes are normal. minor leaks from corrosion that don't affect emissions or noise are still down to the tester.
