DFS christmas delivery promise

I bought a sofa from DFS in the sales when my favourite sofa was at half price. When we bought it we were told there will be a 10 - 12 week delay before the delivery as it has to be 'custom made'. We are now 5 weeks into the wait. I heard their radio advertisement this morning promising before christmas delivery on their sofas. I checked the website and my sofa is one of the sofas available for christmas delivery. Now that means that they are able to 'custom make' and get the sofas out in under 8 weeks which is a lot faster than the potentially 12 week wait I am having! I have tried to contact DFS to ask if our delivery date is being changed because of the new order times but no one will talk about my delivery dates other than quote the 10 - 12 week wait. They still cannot even give me a rough week for the delivery!
The worst thing is the sofa is still half price so I could have held on to my deposit for longer, ordered now and still have the same amount of time to wait!

Does anyone else have experience of DFS delivery dates?

Not personally but my friend ordered one last year - under their delivery by Xmas promise & it didnt come in time. Nothing she could do either as there was something in the small print.

I wouldn't go to DFS for years but last year after a disaster with Harveys which involved Trading Standards and getting them to take their suite back, we were going to be without a suite over Christmas. After trying everywhere in Gloucestershire and the nearest part of Wiltshire also South Wales and Bristol, no-one could deliver what we wanted before Christmas. In desperation we went to DFS in Cheltenham and they couldn't have been better. They arranged to loan us a leather suite from the time Harveys picked theirs up until they delivered the new one and it was changed by us from one leather to another and was guaranteed to be delivered by Christmas. On the Tuesday before Christmas it duly arrived and was swapped with the loan suite. No extra charge (except for the dearer leather) and 4yrs interest free to boot.
Gotta say to anyone in this area, try DFS Cheltenham if you want good service. And the suite is A1 too.
