My parents did this some years ago, we upsized and they downsized. As far as i know all went fine, but i was very young at the time!0

As an update...we spoke about this as a family last night, and despite our buyer being happy for us to view her property, we think @mistertea above is correct - although the house is better that where we are, deep down, we still want to move where we originally planned (up North), and I think we made a quick decision on the back of the disappointment from the house falling through and the thought of an easy option seemed good.0
