car insurance - minor damage claim policy

Hi - I had a question on minor damage claim policy and whether it affects your premium with the main insurance provider.


I bumped my car while parking and there are a few minor scratches on my bumper.


In addition to my main car insurance , I have a minor damage protection policy with Premia Solutions. My questions are:


1. If I claim under this minor damage policy, do I need to declare it to my main insurance provider. Premia Solutions had originally said it won't affect my no-claims bonus but are now giving me vague answers.


2. Do I need to formally inform my main car provider about the accident/scratches.

Yes you will need to declare the incident to your main insurer, as you might find the the minor damage insurer goes to your main insurer for a contribution on what they pay out.
