Green Motion car hire Manchester Airport WARNING

Over the last year I have rented cars from several hire companies including Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Europecar all without issue.
However my experience of Green Motion at Manchester Airport has left me incredulous that so many sharp practices are operated by one company and they still remain in business. On the plus side the car was relatively new with low mileage and their offices were immaculate. However...
The wait to be served was about 35 minutes as only one person serving while another 3 stood about. Each hire seemed to have the assistant type what seemed like a novel into their computer.
Deposit held for one month exactly.
Aggressive sales/no flexibility on in house insurance product despite me having an annual excess policy in place. £26 charge for one days insurance.
A phantom charge of £84 for a £2 crossing of the Mersey bridge despite producing a receipt to prove the crossing had been paid.
So what was a £15 hire for 3 hours turned into £125. An absolutely gang of charlatans. Next time I’ll use a reputable car hire firm as in my experience Green Motion Manchester Airport should not be allowed to operate. You have been warned.

"I rented a car from Green Motion Manchester on 28th Feb. When I went to pick up the car it was covered in Snow and Ice. The attendant apologised that they had been unable to clean the car because of the weather. They gave me a form noting that the car had scratches on one side and damage to a wheel. When I returned the car they found a small scratch on the lower rear of the car (this area was covered in Snow when I took the car) When I protested that I had not caused any damage they then said that they would let me off with the wheel damage (which was previously noted) but, I Had to pay GBP 300 for the scratch to the rear. After a few words, they came back and said that they had checked the previous 5 rentals and the scratch was not there. But, they had not checked nor cleaned the car when I took it. When I argued this the manager asked me, why I did not clear all the snow off it to check! I was also charged for a full tank of Petrol when the tank only contained 2/3 of a tank. I accept that I could have returned and told them about that, but, after a 4 hr flight delay, I could not be bothered. I am just mentioning that as another of the shady practices this company employ"0 -
I was going to list links on mse where posters are calling " scam"

" Trustpilot lists Green Motion as its worst car hire company, ranking it 77 out of 77. Lowden, however, blames these poor reviews on customers airing their frustrations that they have been caught and required to pay for damage to hire vehicles;.
Unlike other hire firms, he says, he does not put up fake reviews."
Look on tripadviser however for numerous " one post wonders";)0 -
Have read of this thread, someone being threatened with court action by Green Motion.

You mean to say a service in Manchester run by people local to Manchester, isn't professional or treats customers with disrespect?
What a surprise!0 -

My advice is as you have done: preach to everyone - family, friends and colleagues. Or hire another car from them, with maximum insurance cover and accidentally have your foot slip off the accelerator and wipe out half their cars in the compound...
I would say that Greenmotion is the Ryanair of car hire but that would be unfair to Ryanair! The man without a signature.0
