They're all near there! If it was Victoria House, it's likely that it was this shower.0

Hi guys,
Just thought I'd post an update since this case has now made it onto Watchdog. My brother's still to receive any of his deposit yet. He did however receive a bill from Rory Aitkens/Leeds Student Homes yesterday for £1432 of damage. As a household they only paid £1250 deposit. The bill includes a £47 charge for a new toilet seat and £382 pounds for a new bed amongst other things. My brother however videoed the property when he moved in (incidently the property had no rear wall at that point as the builders were in) and took photographs upon moving out. His landlord even stated he'd checked and it was spotless. They're off to the union now for help building a case. Failing that my parents are seriously considering making a small claim.Yeah, I know!0 -
As if a toilet seat and a bed cost that much. Judging by most student houses where they buy the cheapest tat they can get.0

They are an absolute joke (The LA), complete cowboys who have seized an opportunity to rip off honest ppl. They won't play fair in the slightest, so whilst I DO NOT advocate breaking the law whatsoever, I am saying that sometimes if you want to win a battle, you have to look at alternative ways of fighting it. (What car's do the head honcho's drive. Have they got nice wheels?) ;-)0

Sorry for digging up an old thread but what happened with this?
The landlord withheld all of me and my friends deposits unfairly. In fact we had already had to take him to tribunal that year (which we won) for organising building work throughout the year for which we received no reduced rent.
I've just found out that after they ceased trading they started up under another name in the same building, with the same properties and the same employees.
Absolutely disgusting.0 -
Was the Landlord (named on the tenancy agreement) an individual "Mr Dodgy L" or a company "Dodgy L Properties Ltd".
If an individual then sue him through the small-claims court for return of deposit... takes time & a little money, but you'll get there...0 -
I think a company, 'Leeds Student Homes'. Now operating in the exact same building as 'Mystudenthomes' or something.0
