Has landlord avoided the deposit protection scheme

You can easily find out if protected.

It sounds to me like there was never a deposit and you paid the rent for:
March and April on 1st March
May on 1st April
June on 1st May
and so on...
You say you're about to serve notice, so I assume your last day in the property would be 30th June? If so, and you paid the rent for June on the 1st May, then you just don't need to pay any rent on 1st June. There is no deposit, so if the landlord wants to charge you for anything then he will need to invoice you.Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0 -
...... A prior to us moving in we paid a deposit and fees to the LL and he acknowledged this and confirmed by email the amounts paid and that the email was the receipt for this. I paid cash on he day the tenancy started for the first months rent, so that's all good.
I have since given notice and the LL has confirmed the Deposit will be returned within 7 days of vacating, barring any issues with the condition of the property.
I still don't know if he has it protected or not... time will tell
By law, that deposit should have been protected in a scheme.
I don't understand why you say "tiime will tell". Why don't you check? Now?
