Restrictions on Virgin Media online account

My mother-in-law has a Virgin Media landline (no TV services, no Broadband). For years I have been managing this for her online via one of my email accounts, but not any more. Virgin Media now say that you can only manage an account online with them if you also have Broadband, so I can no longer access her account.

Has anyone else had this problem?

She doesn't use her phone much so we are thinking of moving her to BT who do a special deal for people who only want a landline for calls.
