Smart Meter Installed - Gas Stronger??

I apologise if this is the wrong forum to post in - hopefully this issue makes sense.

This week, we have just had a smart meter installed.
Everything seemed fine, prior to the install, our appliances were fine and our cooker was working like usual.

The install seemed to go according to plan and so far (touch wood) no issues except when using our gas oven - when igniting produces a VERY strong smell of gas (duh but originally did not smell as strong) and when opening the door to check on meals, whafts the smell across the kitchen and livingroom which originally did not do in the past.

I am unsure if maybe installing the Meter may involve I'm changing gas flow or could the install have altered something (im no gas engineer but it feels wrong)
The fast the smell is strong when opening the door, I am concerned it may be dangerous if we do not open the door for long periods of time.

Can anyone advise if this has happened to them or if there could be an issue - I am hesitant at calling them out if it is now the norm or if maybe the meter had increased the gas flow to our cooker.

The meter itself does not smell of gas - only the oven.

If you smell gas then don't use it, turn the gas off and get it seen to urgently!

The regulator would have been changed which has a working pressure set at 21+/-2mb. Its possible that your previous regulator had a slightly different reading from the new one, but should still have been within the parameters. There should be no smell of gas from the oven at any time.

Call the Gas Emergency service as has been suggested above for a free safety check.

As your cooker is a gas appliance, it should be serviced every 12 months, like any other gas appliance.
