Hi,
I am buying a house which is freehold, and it comes with a garage that is leasehold on a 999 year lease. It is my responsibility to insure the garage, do I need to insure the garage separately to the house?
Thank you

It is not joined to the house, but is next to it. There is a flat above it.0

When I was renting my garage was under one. The setup there was a freehold house with a leasehold garage.
The owner of the coach house flat was the freeholder for the garages. They were responsible for getting buildings insurance but could collect contributions to it from the garages leaseholders.
Contents insurance for the garage was on the usual house contents insurance.
So I suggest you get hold if the lease, see what your setup is.
Then tell in insurance company see how they want to insure it.
