Complete gardening novice. Can anyone help me identify these plants and whether they are weeds or not. Much appreciated. Everything has gone crazy as the house was left empty for a year and I'm working on the weed v not weed basis!
First one is this. Is growing in borders and seems to have small roots. No flowers yet:

This is in one or two areas but has spread and in one border it's full of it.

This looks like a buttercup to me

Now these I know are not weeds but I've no idea what they are, again any help appreciated.
This is huge, it's furry and seems to have sprung up overnight.

And this one has confused a lot of people. The pink stalk lake flowers are adjacent to the canal. They are tall and in various sizes. They did look like ball spaced but have opened up. The ground is hard and almost looks like the roots or bulbs are protruding from the ground
The yellow flowers again look like buttercups - there is no hope for me! I don't want to pull something up if it is actually a plant but at the moment it's a bit like a jungle!!

I can't really help identifying the plants as a novice myself - but as someone else who's starting on a similar journey, I'll pass on some adivce I've been given ....
The definition of a weed is a plant growing where you don't want it to grow.
so if it looks pretty, isn't incredibly invasive and you don't have immediate plans to plant anything else there then consider letting it stay even if it's a wild flower that has self-seeded rather than something that someone has deliberately planted.
We've currently got loads of self-seeded red valerian - I'm keeping it for the moment as I know from last year that bees and butterflies love it and if I pulled it up something less attractive and more difficult to remove (like dandelions) are likely to take it's place0 -

Thanks! That is good advice and if I'm honest I've just been pulling up dandelions, nettles and those sticky weeds. I think it would just be useful to know perhaps what they are. I've found a plant identification forum on Facebook so I'm hoping that will help.

Post 1. First one is a lythrum or loosetrife, second is a geranium and the last one is creeping buttercup.
The lythrum and geranium are OK but the last one is a weeeeed!
Post 2. The first is some sort of verbascum, the second is darmera peltata and the third is a poppy relative that I have forgotten the name of, but I have it in my garden.0 -
Thank you so much! I'll get rid of the creeping buttercup!0

Thought of the last one while having lunch, but consuming it isn't recommended!

Looks like another geranium, different from the first.todayisagreatday wrote: »0 -

Thank you for the useful advice so far I'm now progressing!
Quick question. This tree is in blossom and I think it's an apple tree however in more taken with what is growing up it and why the previous owner had it like that.
Whatever it is has grown up and almost wrapped itself in and around the tree. It has flowers on it. Should I leave it or try and relocate it. It just seems a little odd.
