HSBC Sort Code 40-11-00

Just opened an HSBC Advance Bank Account on-line, and its sort code is 40-11-00. I went to look this up on the Web to see what branch they've assigned me to, and was surprised to find it doesn't seem to be listed anywhere.
Is it some kind of central sort code used for on-line accounts, that isn't tied to a specific HSBC branch?

I could be wrong, but I think all Advance accounts have that sort code (certainly those not opened in branch).
There isn't really any need for an account holding branch these days, and HSBC are not alone in doing this.0 -

It is listed here as "National Sort Code 10":

It doesn't matter which branch it is.
You can go into any branch to discuss or make changes to your account.0 -
I've just checked and I've the same sort code. I've never been in a HSBC branch.0

Thanks for all the replies.
I know it's virtually irrelevant really, but I'm just curious about things like that :-)0
