Driving license/V5c address change required?
Hello
Need some advice.
I will be moving home in the next month or so.
I will be leaving my parents home and moving into a flat. I will still be visiting my parents every month and be staying over at some weekends.
I read on the threads here that I need to update my driving licence as I moved to a new address, however my parents address will still be a contactable address for me.
My question is do I need to notify DVLA of the change of my address?

No. But it may be useful to change the licence as it's handy for proof of ID with address.0

This is a direct quote from DVLA:
You must tell!DVLA!when your address changes so your driving licence, vehicle log book (V5C) and vehicle tax are up to date.
This includes if you’re temporarily moving home (if you’re going to university, for example).
It doesn’t cost anything to change your address with!DVLA.
It makes no mention of you only needing to change it if you can't still be contacted via your old address. Looks like a grey area to me especially given the comment about university when students are only there about 9 months a year.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Yes you need to notify them and even if you didn't you want to be doing so anyway because otherwise you could get a penalty notice sent to your parents address and not find out until too late to reply and take the less serious fixed penalty instead of going to court. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. That quote is from the gov.uk website, which only gives general advice, not always that accurate, and should never be relied on without reference to the relevant authority.0 -

Which could include a parents address.

You can be fined up to £1,000 if you don’t tell DVLA when your address changes.

No its not.
From the road traffic act:(4)Where the name or address of the licence holder as specified in a licence ceases to be correct, its holder must forthwith surrender the licence F73... to the Secretary of State F74... .
(5)A person who [F75without reasonable cause]fails to comply with the duty under subsection [F76(2A),][F75(3) [F77, (3ZA)] or](4) above is guilty of an offence. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
