The benefits of a 1/20th (one twentieth) share in a Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Syndicate, initially The Goodwood Syndicate.
This element of the prize consists of benefits that are specific to share owners of the Goodwood Syndicate (the “Syndicate Benefits”). The share owners of the Goodwood Syndicate are party to a syndicate agreement (the “Syndicate Agreement”) which will be provided to the winner upon taking up the prize; for the avoidance of doubt the winner will not be a share owner but will be entitled to the benefits that accrue to share owners. As such, the Syndicate Benefits will only last the duration of the Goodwood Syndicate which, for the avoidance of doubt has no minimum or maximum period, but is dicated, amongst other things, by the wellbeing and success of the horse and is subject to the Prize Provider’s absolute discretion.
There are a number of risks associated with horse racing and the value of racehorses can fluctuate considerably. For example, successful racehorses (and particularly successful colts with appropriate credentials to become stallions) can increase very significantly in value. Horses which are unsuccessful on the racecourse can diminish in value significantly. Horses are also subject to constant risks associated with illness and injury; an injury which curtails or ends a horse's career can reduce its value to a nominal sum. Injury and illness can be fatal and would bring the Goodwood Syndicate to an end.
Syndicate Benefits:
· either two (2) (i) Owners’ & Trainers’ badges; or (ii) General Admission badges for race days (subject to availability and at the Prize Provider’s abolsute discretion);
· any returns once the syndicate is wound up (after reasonable deductions, including but not limited to: the purchase price of the horse, freight charges commissions, keep charges, training ffees, racing fees, race-day expenses, purchase and sale expenses, bank charges, management fees, sale commission, trainers bonuses, all other expenses necessarily incurred in administering the syndicate and 10 per cent of any prize money earnings of the horse in excess of £150,000);
· regular updates as to the progress of the horse and running plans;
· filmed updates of the horse being trained and interviews with the trainers;
· pre and post-race analysis on the horse’s performance after a race and a DVD and photograph sent to their home if it wins; and
· a bottle of Taittinger sent for the first win of the Season.
Lifestyle benefits
In addition to the Syndicate Benefits, the winner will be entitled to lifestyle benefits (the “Lifestyle Benefits”) which will continue for a minimum period ending after the 2020 European Flat Racing Season at a date to be confirmed by Prize Priovider.
Lifestyle Benefits, subject always to availability:
· access to the Yearling Parade held annually at Highclere Stud on the Highclere Castle;
· opportunity to see behind the scenes, viewing the horses in training and talking to trainers;
· invitation to Highclere Throughbred Racing's private box at Newbury Racecourse (at all events when the box is open) and
· invitations to Highclere Thoroughbred Racing's annual Royal Ascot and Qatar Goodwood Festival picnics.
