According to :http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5711817/Homeowners-bombarded-junk-mail-Royal-Mail-sent-pamphlets-exploiting-data-protect-laws.html
We can expect much more spam through the letter box - courtesy of Royal Mail - twisting GDPR laws !
They do, however, have an opt out scheme to prevent the delivery of unaddressed mail
I have found this form at https://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/D2D-Opt-Out-Application-Form-2015-1.pdf
Has anyone tried it ?
We get a whole stack of adverts/ unwanted CR AP especially on Thursdays !
Does it stop any mail ?
I bet that it doesn!!!.

    Lol it isnt a 'loophole'.
The regulations simply dont apply to undressed mail.
I love that you have now 'just' discovered an opt out that has existed for over a decade.
Your whole link relates to unaddressed mail and then you ask if it applies to unaddressed mail? :rotfl:
What goes on in your head?

I wouldn't take the Daily Fail as a reliable source on anything.

The GDPR is about protecting people's personal data. Unaddressed mail has no personal data - it's just leaflets stuffed through your letter box. So the GDPR doesn't apply at all. That's hardly a loophole.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

The unaddressed mail helps pay for the daily delivery and reduces the cost of postage for everyone.

With all my bills and bank statements paperles, the only time we see our postman is when we get junk mail or the latest gadget ebay junk i bought :)

No longer a letterbox, we rarely get a letter its a junkbox :)

Shred and compost most of it.

I love junk mail, especially if it comes with a pre-paid envelope.

I put each company's rubbish in the other envelope and send it back to them.

Save any unaddressed you mail you get and post it into the nearest post box.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

This is something the RM have been promoting for years.... the only difference now is they pointed this change out to potential customers. It's not a loophole, it's an entirely different part of marketing. The change in law is about people being named... being specifically targetted due to demographics. RM have always offered "occupier" letter options for untargetted mail.

It's like a pet shop pointing out they will sell you a cat if the law on dog licenses changes.... they've probably always had a sign in the window "cats for sale", so nothing's changed.... but the two are different beasts. Buying a cat if dog licensing changed wouldn't be a "loophole".

whenever you sign up for something and they ask how you heard about us, always select the TV button so they waster their marketing money on that. Never select direct mailing it will get worse. Any post that comes to me either unaddressed or clearly junk from the envelope goes straight back into the post box
