My bank hasn't taken the money

I withdrew £500 over the counter from the Abbey branch at Bluewater. When I made the withdrawal I was told the computer system was down and that the money wouldn't leave my account until the next day at 12 o clock.
This was two weeks ago and the money still hasn't left my account. How long do they have to take the money from my account? Is there a legal timeframe? Please help!!

What does the bank say about all this? If you haven't thought of contacting them, why not?The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Technically it is theft by find. And ignorance is no plea in court. They will say that you know how much is in your bank and that you receive statements.
However if you do not open any statements for the next twelve months and let them pile up and do not go in and or use cash machine for balance enquiries then you might get away with it. But the onus is on you and your
guilt free life0 -
Why worry about it? As long as you don't reduce your balance below that required to meet it when it finally comes through (which it undoubtedly will) leave things to take their course - why should you have to run around getting in a stew over their (latest) mess-up (and I'm a Santander shareholder!)0

Many lost debit cards, no intrest paid to customers for month, address incorrect fiasco and now this, I simply don't understand what is going on with Abbey!:eek:Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Yep, all you need to do is ensure sufficient funds are there for if they ever do take it. Why tell them?, while its still in your account your earning interest on it and at the end of the day if they've not updated your balance correctly then it is there fault.
You are hardly to blame, you went to the bank in good faith to withdraw £500, you signed for the withdrawal. Your part in the process is done, it is not your job to go to the bank and tell them theres been a mistake, that's why they have a payroll full of employees!.0
