Car hit pothole a few weeks ago, car damaged but unsure of location
A few weeks ago, I was driving on the road from Milton Keynes to Aylesbury and hit a pothole. It was a pretty big thud but I thought nothing of it at the time as the car continued to drive normally.
But whilst out driving last Friday I first heard a scraping noise when I braked. A few moments later, I heard a crack and it turned out it was a snapped wishbone - total cost so far -£470 (though that included two new tyres too)
Turns out there will be further costs too - the inside wheel splash guard came out of place as a result and need replacing, also the damage caused the bodywork to be pushed in, so much so that the wing has moved and now the door is touching rather than there being a gap, as a result, it rubs everytime I open the door.
I suspect I am out of luck as well as out of pocket as I can't remember the exact location as it was done in the dark, a few weeks back. There was no way it could have been done at the time of the breakage as it was a perfectly smooth road
I've seen several guides, but they all mention you should report it and get pictures. Only problem is, although I know roughly where it happened, not precisely and it may have been filled in by now

Not a lot you can do other than get it fixed and maybe claim on your insurance. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Even if you have proof it's a pothole and pictures, witnesses, it still may not be enough. The council just need to ensure they have inspected it in line with their guidelines, and that if reported to them earlier, they inspected it within a certain timeframe and arranged to fix it.
