Can I get Compensation?

I recently returned from Greece on Monarch airlines and suffered a delay of 5 and a half hours. The original flight was scheduled for 1630 hrs. We were brought by our reps to the airport at 1330 hrs and the flight did not leave until 2200 hours due to technical difficulties on the outboard plane from LGW. After the first 2 hours we were provided with a small bottle of water and a packet of crisps or biscuits. The late departure meant that I arrived at LGW at 2300 hours and I had missed my last train home. As I couldnt find a rep or anyone at the airport at after midnight, to ask for accommodation, when the baggage had been retrieved I had to phone up a friend to collect me....(an hour and a half drive away) as I didnt want to spend the night in the airport. Can I claim back at least my unused half of a pre-bought train ticket from the coast to Gatwick? and any other compensation ....as we were starving!!!! thanks

Sorry the regs do not provide for compensation in these circumstances.
Complain anyway - you may get an ex gratia payment0
