Hi had a student loan approved letter dated 2nd May can I cancel no payment in the bank yet

I don't know, but their contact details took just a few seconds to find so that you can ask them yourself (I've assumed England, but details for the other parts of the UK will be just as easy to find).

Is this for the year starting in September 2018? If yes, you have plenty of time to contact the funding body and tell them you want to cancel. No funds would be paid out unless confirmation of your attendance was received from the university after the start of term. Agrinnall has given a link to contact details.
