We have too many consumer rights and not enough personal responsibility
Whats worrying is that attitude is spreading in to the private market too - sell anything now, genuine private sale and people expect to have rights / part refund / refund if something goes wrong with it down the line.0 -
To be fair, over on PistonHeads, people have commented that the BCA inspector picked up several damages but no bill was ever forthcoming and they had put it down to them been well under the mileage allowance, so a little tit for tat as it were.
Obviously nothing could ever be shown in writing, it was just the leasers experience that the damage was written off due to the lower miles than expected.
So I dont think its an unreasonable question to at least ask TBH. OP isnt disputing the £400 charge and is taking responsibility for it. They are just looking for an angle to reduce it - after all, this is a moneysaving website is it not?
OP, what is the damage to the car - are you sure its compliant with the BVRLA code (on vw/Audi Finance website)?0 -

If you wish, you're free to drive around and rack up some more miles.
Your complaint is no different from being thirsty and wanting to buy a can of Coke for 60p. You then decide to pay 40p extra for a 500ml bottle in case you're more thirsty later. You open the bottle, drink 330ml and then decide you're not that thirsty, and don't want the rest. You go back to the shop and demand your 40p back for not drinking the extra 170ml.
How many shops and stores would be happy to pay you the 40p?
No its not really.
The additional damage OP has caused, reduces the value of the car.
The amount of miles that the OP signed up for gave VWFS an estimate of the future value of the car.
The amount of miles that the car has now (under the agreed mileage) will mean the car will be worth more than the original estimate (£900 will mean 15,000 miles less). This means that the car can be sold for more.
With your bottle of Coke analogy, as soon as it was opened it was worth £0 value. Regardless of how much was taken, 0ml, or all 500ml, it is still worth £0.
As my other reply, OP isnt denying the £400 charge, just hoping if anyone else has had better experiences in how to convince VWFS to move their stance - not an unreasonable request I dont think.0
