clearing url address history

Need to give my laptop back to my work, but want to clear all the non work addresses (especially the matched betting ones!).I've tried deleting history, clearing cookies, using ccleaner, but when I start to type in the address bar the drop down box still brings up a lot of my old visited site names (some as far back as 05!).Can anyone help?

Which browser are you using? Firefox, internet explorer?
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!
  • Use Up/Down arrow keys to highlight an entry in the drop down box and then press Delete key to delete it.

download and run ccleaner, pretty sure that gets rid of all of your history including auto-complete entries.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • Try using ScrubXP - https://www.bartdart.com.

This free utility sits in the system tray and cleans all temp items at shutdown.

    You need to CLEAR FORMS

Depends on your browser but for IE:

    Open Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Then click the Content tab.
    Next, choose the AutoComplete button.
Check off Clear Forms and/or Clear Passwords to clear all saved items from the AutoComplete history.
Click OK a couple of times to exit.

To clear individual items from the list of form or password suggestions, click the item in the list of suggestions for that field and then press DELETE.

To clear your AutoComplete history for Web addresses, do this:
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    Click the General tab.
Click Clear History, and then click OK.
  • I've tried all of the suggestions (except scrubxp as I'm not using XP), but the addresses are still there :-(

I can't see them when I click on the drop down arrow, only when I start to type the address.

try this, go to control panel, click on internet options, click on the content tab, where it says autocomplete click the box that says settings, then uncheck the box where it says web addresses, then click ok, and press on the general tab, and press delete browsing history, maybe after that, the addresses will not come back up, hope this helps, Dave.
Take every day as it comes!!

Thanks Spaceman. That nearly worked. I mean I have now got rid of the autocomplete for nearly all the web addresses, but it still does an autocomplete for a few. They seem to be addresses that were typed in without http or www that come up.
